Brown Announces ‘Fan Appreciation Tour’

Posted on Wednesday October 21, 2009 at 10:01 AM 3 |

Two months after being sentenced to probation and community service for beating up then-girlfriend Rihanna in February, Chris Brown announces his “Fan Appreciation Tour” of small, intimate venues.

The singer’s record label announced a short series of dates beginning Nov. 14 at Houston’s House of Blues.

Other tour dates include Dallas at the Palladium Nov. 15; Los Angeles at the Avalon Nov. 18; San Francisco at the Fillmore Nov. 19; Richmond, Va., at the Landmark Nov. 22; Royal Oak, Mich., at the Royal Oak Music Theatre Nov. 25; Chicago at House of Blues Nov. 26 and Ft. Lauderdale at Revolution Nov. 29. Last stop on the schedule is the Orlando-area House of Blues located in Lake Buena Vista Dec. 1.

New Boyz appears on all dates. A portion of the proceeds will go to charity.

But Brown won’t have to wait until November to test the touring waters. He’ll appear at Power 105’s Powerhouse concert in East Rutherford, N.J., Oct. 27.

Earlier this year Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna. In August he was sentenced to five years of probation, six months of community labor and a year of domestic violence counseling.

The upcoming tour will gauge if Brown’s ability to put butts in the seats has diminished after several months of news coverage portraying him as a violent individual who beat up his girlfriend.

But maybe it wasn’t the best of times to announce the tour. On the same day Brown’s label announced the dates, Rihanna released her latest single – “Russian Roulette” – which many see as an allegory to when Brown beat her bloody last February shortly after the then-couple left recording industry giant Clive Davis’ traditional pre-Grammy party.

"fan appreciation tour", more like a "everybody please forget I punch the lights out of women and bite them" tour.

He's playing "intimate" venues because he and his agents know that only a small amount of people are still dumb enough to go see this talentless abuser.
