Elton John’s Flu Blues

Posted on Monday October 26, 2009 at 02:01 PM Add |

Turns out Morrissey wasn’t the only Brit artist under the weather over the weekend. Elton John had to rearrange his performance calendar after being stricken with a nasty flu bug.

John began the weekend by canceling his Friday night at the Sheffield Arena. He then postponed his scheduled Saturday concert at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena and tomorrow night’s show at London’s Wembley Arena. New dates for the postponed Newcastle and London shows have yet to be announced.

So far, John’s scheduled stop in Liverpool on Wednesday (Oct. 28) and this Friday night’s engagement in Dublin (Oct. 30) are still on the books. Promoters said it is “hoped he will make a speedy recovery,” according to BBC News.

Although John was able to postpone or cancel dates in advance, Morrissey wasn’t so lucky. The singer collapsed onstage only minutes into his set Saturday night in Swindon. Released from the hospital yesterday, Morrissey reportedly was suffering from breathing problems Saturday night.
