Death Of A Roadie

Posted on Tuesday October 27, 2009 at 11:01 AM Add |

More details are emerging regarding the death of Lenny Sullivan – Bruce Springsteen’s cousin and assistant road manager.

Kansas City’s Sprint Center issued a brief statement late yesterday announcing Springsteen had canceled Monday night’s show at the venue because of a death in the “immediate family.”

Now it appears Sullivan’s body was discovered in his hotel room shortly before the evening’s concert was to begin.

According to People, Kansas City police are investigating the case but haven’t found anything suspicious. Sullivan, age 36, had been Springsteen’s assistant road manager for 10 years.

Although the Kansas City date had to be canceled and ticket buyers refunded, Springsteen promised he would return to the city “at the earliest opportunity.”

But fans wanting Springsteen to return with E Street may have a long wait. Published reports during the past couple of months indicate Springsteen may not work with the band again for at least one to two years.

New York City is another matter. According to Entertainment Weekly’s Music Mix blog, Springsteen and E Street still plan to perform Oct. 29 at Madison Square Garden as part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 25th anniversary concerts.
