During an interview with Massachusetts newspaper The Republican, Who frontman Roger Daltrey commented on the band’s chances for video game glory.
“The game, yeah, yeah, they’re going to be doing a Who one next year,” Daltrey said. “There is one planned. (The idea) is fabulous. Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful. In my opinion, music is our last true great freedom. They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can’t stop us singing and making music.”
Daltrey, who is currently touring solo, also said Pete Townshend is “working on demos” and that there may be a new Who album next year as well as a tour.
He also put in a few good words for bands that play for baby boomers.
“One of the problems with rock music is its failure to grow up and reflect a generation that hasn’t gone away,” Daltrey told The Republican. “It’s still there. But it seems like most people are perennially and eternally writing for teenagers. Very few people are writing songs of meaning for that older generation, a generation that is just as relevant as they ever were.”
