Friday Fun: The Best Halloween Concert… Ever!

09:01 AM, Friday 10/30/09 15 |   |

What’s the best Halloween concert you’ve ever seen?

Some bands and artists are naturals for Halloween. KISS, Slipknot, Gwar, Alice Cooper – those are great acts for an evening filled with ghosts and goblins.

However, there are other performers that add something extra for Oct. 31 by offering a special Halloween treat for audiences, like a specific song, a special guest or even a magician or shudder clowns.

  • GWAR

Codpiece, latex prosthetics – it's all in a night's work for Oderus Urungus and Gwar at Toronto's Opera House.

Smashing Pumpkins, opening for KISS at Dodger Stadium on Halloween night in (I think) 1998. Video screen intro had the old black and white Ed Sullivan intro of the Beatles - followed by the Pumpkins coming on stage dressed exactly like the Fab Four (suits and mop top hair.) I believe they sang the song "Money (that's what I want)" before going into their own catalogue. It was a good time!!

Best Halloween double bill concert I've caught  lately was with Rob Zombie and Ozzy Oct 27//07 at the MTS Centre here in the 'Peg. With Rob Zombie's show, it's Hallowe'en pretty much all year round. And Ozzy's scary at the best of times!   Made for a real treat - with Rob Zombie almost upstaging Oz!  Great Halloween doublebill!

    MOTORHEAD, Dublin, Ireland, 10.31.08

First show of their "Motorizer" tour and went to the show with my friends from England. Good time, we even got to drink Motorheads beer after the show.
