Canada Will Have To Wait For Carnage

12:01 PM, Monday 11/2/09 2 |   |

The “Canadian Carnage” tour, featuring Megadeth and Slayer, is postponed because of one rocker’s back problems.

That would be Slayer’s Tom Araya, who is being treated by a specialist for a back injury related to performing onstage.

Along with postponing the tour, Slayer will not make its scheduled Nov. 4 appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Megadeth and Slayer were scheduled to begin the “Canadian Carnage” tour this Sunday in Moncton at that city’s coliseum complex. Other stops on the short week-long run included Halifax, Montreal, Quebec City and Toronto.   Machine Head and Suicide Silence were also appearing on the tour.

“What is foremost in our minds right now is that Tom do whatever he needs to get this taken care of,” Slayer’s Kerry King said. “While all four of us are disappointed that we won’t be able to see through all of our commitments set for the next few weeks, the most important thing is Tom’s health. We thank the fans in Canada and here in L.A., the Megadeth camp, and everyone associated with ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ for their understanding. We look forward to seeing you all soon.”

Although Kimmel and Slayer’s Canadian fans will have to take a rain check, three-quarters of the band will make an in-store appearance at the Hot Topic store at the Hollywood & Highland complex in Hollywood this Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., California time. The band’s new album – World Painted Blood – lands in stores tomorrow. For more information on everything Slayer-related, please click here for the band’s website.
