Your Monday Morning Bon Jovi Update

11:06 AM, Monday 11/9/09 Add |   |

Bon Jovi gets busy as the band invites members of the military to join the fun at the group’s “Today Show” concert appearance this week. Meanwhile, American Express will tweet info Wednesday on how cardholders can catch Jon Bon Jovi performing a special acoustic gig benefiting charity.

Bon Jovi appears Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11 on NBC’s "Today" show. Calling the performance in the program’s outdoor plaza a “Celebration of Service,” the band, through the U.S.O. and the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s iParticipate Campaign, has invited NYC-area military personnel and their families to the gig as well as civilian volunteers who have worked with the military.

According to the Bon Jovi Web site, fans, including the aforementioned military personnel and civilian volunteers, should arrive at the 35 W. 48th St. location at 6 a.m. Wednesday morning.

But the band’s "Today" show appearance isn’t the only special gig planned this month.

Jon Bon Jovi has a show of his own to do next week. The frontman is scheduled to play a special acoustic performance Nov. 16 at NYC’s Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center to benefit City Harvest via the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation.

American Express cardholders will have first crack at tickets through the company’s Twitter feed. AMEX says it will tweet the “first and only link to purchase tickets for $50” the morning of Nov. 11. That’s also Veteran's Day – this Wednesday for those of you feeling a little calendar-challenged.

The evening, which stars “Jon Bon Jovi & Friends,” also includes a screening of the trailer from the Bon Jovi documentary “When We Were Beautiful” and a Q&A with the rocker and the film’s director, Phil Griffin. All audience members will receive a copy of the documentary, Bon Jovi’s new album – The Circle – and the book “When We Were Beautiful.”
