The festival hasn’t said who it will honor in 2010, but the tribute will happen the first day of the event. The first Sunset Strip Music Festival honored Lou Adler, Mario Maglieri and Elmer Valentine, founders of the Strip’s Rainbow Bar & Grill.
But it was this year’s tribute that convinced music fans to pencil the Sunset Strip Music Festival into their music calendars. By honoring Ozzy Osbourne, the festival suddenly became one of the major destination events on the West Coast. Although organizers haven’t announced who they’ll tribute next year, you can bet their looking to duplicate the success they had with Ozzy this past September.
Like this year, the event will include a street festival on Saturday (Aug. 14) between San Vicente Blvd. and Doheny Drive. It will include multiple stages, bands and artists, while other performances will take place inside the clubs located between the closed streets.
Basically, the latest announcement from the Sunset Strip Music Festival is all about the dates, and future announcements will include lineups and that special tribute guest.
