The Taylor Swift Greeting Card Collection

01:01 PM, Wednesday 11/18/09 2 |   |

Earlier this year Taylor Swift signed on as the National Hockey League’s newest celebrity spokesperson. She’s also the face of L.e.i. Jeans, which recently launched a clothing line inspired by the singer and sold exclusively at Wal-Mart. The singer even has her very own doll. Her latest venture? Greeting cards.

Most celebrities tend to launch their own perfume or energy drink or alcohol brand rather than a line of greeting cards but the partnership actually makes perfect sense.

Greeting cars are often sugary sweet, cute and bring a smile to your face. The same could be said for America’s favorite teenage country singer-songwriter.

I mean, come on – Swift celebrated her 2009 CMA entertainer of the year award with a “cereal party” at the kitchen table with her parents. How adorable is that?!

Swift has teamed up with American Greetings to produce a line of greeting cards, gift packaging, stationery, online photo personalization products and online greetings. She will work with the company’s editorial and creative teams to design, develop and create the cards and products.

"My idea of a great song is a song that says how I feel better than I could. I feel the same way about greeting cards," Swift said. “I've always been fascinated by feelings and how we express them to each other. Getting to write and design these cards is a wonderful experience."

The Taylor Swift greeting card collection will be available in stores and online in spring 2010. The line will be sold in retail stores throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and US military bases worldwide, and online at Americangreetings.com and Photoworks.com.

The singer’s songwriting chops are going to come in handy when dreaming up cards that say it just right.

"We are absolutely thrilled and honored to introduce Taylor Swift as the newest writer and creative contributor to the American Greetings family," said Zev Weiss, Chief Executive Officer at American Greetings. "Her abilities as a storyteller and songwriter make her a natural at writing cards for consumers of all ages. She has the unique ability to connect with her fans through life experiences and greeting cards do the same--cards help people express, connect and celebrate these events with the important people in their lives. We believe it's a natural fit!"

Next week Swift plays London’s Wembly Arena Nov. 23 followed by a performance the next evening at Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, U.K.

In December you can catch her at a few radio shows as she plays "KIIS FM Jingle Ball" at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, Dec. 5 and "Z100 Jingle Ball" at New York’s Madison Square Garden Arena, Dec. 11.

Swift heads for Australia in February followed by the launch of her U.S. tour March 4- June 2.

Is the KIIS FM Jingle Ball a reference she slept with Gene Simmons? He taught her marketing right!
