If everything goes as planned, the free show’s lineup will feature Barenaked Ladies, O.A.R. and Robert Randolph & The Family Band. A free show on the beach – would could be better? How about fireworks and food? Perfect.
The fun goes down Feb. 6 from 4 –10 p.m. at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park off State Road AIA, a few block south of Las Olas Boulevard.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel explains that three large “pens” will be set up on the beach for the concert near the Fort Lauderdale Beach Park parking lot, formally called “South Beach” lot.
Concertgoes will be rounded up by Live Nation, which is working with Fort Lauderdale to send out 75 shuttle buses from city parking garages to the concert site.
The paper notes that Fort Lauderdale will be the place to be for spotting NFL bigwigs as “much of the Super Bowl entourage, including the NFL staff, will be staying on Fort Lauderdale Beach.” Super Bowl XLIV takes place Feb.7 at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., about 20 miles from Fort Lauderdale Beach.
Live Nation unveiled the free concert plans to the public and the Fort Lauderdale City Commission Jan. 7. The commission will give a formal vote on the event Jan. 20.
