Drive-By Truckers’ Big To-Do Tour

08:01 AM, Thursday 1/28/10 Add |   |

Following a three-night stand in Atlanta, the Drive-By Truckers plan to keep hitting stages across North American this spring in support of the band’s eighth studio album, "The Big To-Do." The alt-country band is also celebrating the upcoming release of its rock ’n’ roll documentary, "The Secret To A Happy Ending."

DBT play Crossroads in Huntsville, Ala., tonight followed by a show at The Handlebar in Greenville, S.C. (Feb. 11), two nights at Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, N.C. (Feb. 12-13) and two nights at Jefferson Theatre in Charlottesville, Va. (Feb. 26-27).

The newest round of dates kick off March 4 at Rox in Wilmington, N.C., with shows booked through a May 8 gig at The Fillmore in San Francisco.

Additional shows include Tipitina’s Uptown in New Orleans (March 19-20), House Of Blues in Boston (April 2), Vic Theatre in Chicago (April 9), Beachland Ballroom & Tavern in Cleveland (April 11) and The Avalon/Bardot Hollywood in Los Angeles (May 7).

More dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Big To-Do is set for release March 16 on ATO Records. Drive By-Truckers and ATO Records are offering the first single, “This F**king Job” as a free download.

The band’s documentary, "The Secret To A Happy Ending," premiers Feb. 5 at AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, Md. Director Barr Weissman and the band’s Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley and Brad Morgan will attend the sold-out premier.

The film is also being shown Feb. 28 at Noisepop Film Festival in San Francisco.

DBT’s Web site describes the documentary as “a film about the redemptive power of rock and roll; it’s about the American South, where rock was born; it’s about a band straddling the borders of rock, punk and country; it’s about making art, making love and making a living; it’s about the Drive-By Truckers.

“This film documents the band and their fans as they explore tales of human weakness and redemption. With unparalleled access, this documentary encompasses three critical years of touring and recording as the band struggles to overcome trauma and survives a near breakup, in a persistent search for a happy ending.”
