The band was founded in 1980 in the suburbs of Los Angeles by high school pals guitarist Brett Gurewitz, bassist Jay Bentley and singer Greg Graffin. The lineup was expanded to include Greg Hetson (1984-present), Brian Baker (1994-present) and Brooks Wackerman (2001-present).
Fans are invited to mark the 30th anniversary by rocking out at shows taking place at House of Blues venues in Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas and Anaheim, Calif., March 17 through April 17.
Dates are currently on the books from March 17 through April 2 with more shows to be added soon.
So far, you can count on the Anaheim shows taking place March 17-18 and March 31-April 2. San Diego shows have been scheduled for March 19-21 with Los Angeles shows set for March 24-25 and Las Vegas shows March 26-27.
With 14 studio albums under its belt – along with two EPs, one live recording, three compilation albums and 24 singles – the band isn’t looking to quit rolling out the tunes any time soon. Bad Religion has plans to hit the studio this spring and release the band’s 15th studio album later this fall.
“The greatest feeling about this anniversary is that its is happening at all,” Bad Religion singer Greg Graffin said. “I’m mostly uplifted by the fact that a vibrant and evolving punk scene still inspires young people all over the world. If Bad Religion somehow serves as a symbol for the lasting importance of punk, then I am satisfied beyond words by reaching this milestone.”
