The Wonder Of Glastonbury

11:01 AM, Wednesday 2/3/10 Add |   |

As this year’s Glastonbury gets closer and closer, organizers continue to reveal the lineup act by act. Following November’s announcement that U2 would headline the British festival, it now appears the Irish rockers might share the spotlight with Stevie Wonder and Muse.

Yesterday festival founder Michael Eavis told the audience at the Event Production Show in London that Muse would headline Saturday, June 26, and that it was “probable” Stevie Wonder would close out the fest the following night, according to UK’s Event Magazine.

The Glastonbury festival press office would neither confirm nor deny Eavis’ remarks.

“We would love Stevie Wonder to play but nothing has been confirmed yet," the office told the Guardian. "There has also been a lot of speculation about whether Muse will be headlining, but we can't confirm anything at the moment. We are still in talks."

Glastonbury, which marks its 40th anniversary this year, takes place June 23-27 at Worthy Farm in Pilton, U.K. U2 is set to take the stage Friday, June 25. Tickets to the fest sold out in a single day last October.

Emily Eavis told BBC Newsbeat that the event is "pretty much sewn up now. We're still confirming the Sunday night headliner. Apart from that we've pretty much finalised the Pyramid stage."

The Guardian noted that other acts rumored to be playing this year’s fest include Hot Chip, Vampire Weekend, Jack Johnson and Dizzee Rascal.

Glastonbury 2009 featured Neil Young, Blur and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.
