Trainwreck Of A Tour

08:01 AM, Thursday 2/18/10 1 |   |

Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass is jumping back on the rails with his side project Trainwreck as the rock band continues touring the U.S. in celebration of its debut studio album, The Wreckoning.

Gass describes Trainwreck “as a cornucopia of rock and a 5-headed hydra of pleasure.”  The band features Gass, performing as his alter-ego Klip Calhoun, Darryl Lee Donald (Jason Reed aka “Lee” of Tenacious D), and additional members of the D’s live/studio band – John Bartholomew Shredman (John Konesky), Boy Johnny (John Spiker) and Dallas St. Bernard (Nate Rothacker).

The band’s sound mixes southern rock with a good dose of “prog-rock, boogie, and straight-up classic rock and roll, as well as absurdist comedy banter and lyrics derived from the characters they’ve developed within the band.”

After taking a month off the road, the tour kicks off Feb. 27 at Di Piazza’s Lava Lounge in Long Beach, Calif., with dates booked through a March 18 gig at Larimer Lounge in Denver.

Additional tour stops include Beauty Bar in Las Vegas (March 1), Launchpad in Albuquerque, N.M. (March 4), 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville (March 7), Martyrs’ in Chicago (March 13) and The Riot Room in Kansas City, Mo. (March 17).

The Wreckoning was released in early December.

“The Wreckoning is nothing short of a Trainwreck, in the best possible way,” said Shredman. “After seven years of playing music together, touring all over the world, and recording a number of live albums and EP's we finally decided it was time to release our full-length debut. We cannot wait to see all of you on the road in the coming month. So keep your ear-fannies wide and your butt-flaps wider because we're about to ram this train into places you didn't know it could go. Prepareth yourselves!”
