Double Your Pleasure

08:01 AM, Wednesday 2/24/10 Add |   |

Ah spring. When the weather turns warmer and flowers begin to show their little heads again, it can only mean one thing: It’s time for bands from Europe and the U.K. to venture across the Atlantic to entertain audiences. This year North America is in for a double treat courtesy of Sweden’s Little Dragon and U.K. singer VV Brown.

Little Dragon hits the road first, kicking off a six-week run March 11 at the Windish Agency’s CMW Showcase at Lee’s Palace in Toronto and then heading south for a series of shows in Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, Florida and Georgia.

Beginning March 21 at The Milestone in Charlotte, N.C., they’ll be joined by British chanteuse VV Brown on most dates, including stops in Philadelphia, D.C., Chicago, Salt Lake City, Seattle and San Francisco.

Fans of finely crafted pop can expect to hear some of the best material on the scene today during both sets, with Little Dragon supporting their sublime, ’80s-influenced sophomore release Machine Dreams and former Pollstar Hotstar Brown touring behind her infectious and “crazy catchy” debut Travelling Like the Light.

Both acts are likely to be high on everyone’s watch list for 2010. Not only are Little Dragon set to appear at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in April, they’re the only act to make two guest appearances on the highly anticipated new Gorillaz album, Plastic Beach, due in March.

Here's the insanely bouncy, Devo-meets-Nu-Shooz-at-Prince's-house track "Looking Glass" from Machine Dreams.

Although Brown may not be a household name yet, she soon will be, with tracks from Travelling finding their way onto dozens of television shows including “Cougar Town,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “CSI: NY,” “90210” and “Desperate Housewives.”

Here's Brown's dizzying and slightly surreal video for "Leave!" from Travelling Like the Light.
