Hanging Out At Hangout

10:01 AM, Friday 2/26/10 4 |   |

Trey Anastasio & TAB, John Legend, Zac Brown Band, Ben Harper, The Black Crowes, The Flaming Lips and Alison Krauss & Union Station feat. Jerry Douglas are just a few of the artists and bands scheduled to appear at the first ever Hangout Beach, Music And Arts Festival scheduled for May 14-16 in Gulf Shores, Ala.

You gotta admit it’s a great name for a festival on the Gulf coast. Who wouldn’t want to spend three days hanging on the beach soaking up the sun and basking in the music?

And there will be plenty of choices on what is shaping up to be one of the newest events in the music festival biz. Along with the aforementioned artists the festival has also booked Gov’t Mule, Ray LaMontagne, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Funky Meters, Blind Boys of Alabama, Matisyahu, Girl Talk, Guster, Brett Dennen, Keller Williams, Jerry Jeff Walker and more. Lots more.

Expecting up to 35,000 people per day, Hangout will feature two main stages plus four additional stages. Available accommodations for the three-day adventure range from local hotels and beachfront condos to camping at the local state park.

What do you mean "how will the real fans see this show"  This is not expensive at all for the bands that are listed over 3 days.  This line up is better than the line up for Bonnaroo this year and the price is much cheaper.  If you took the cost of seeing each of these bands individually either in a bar, House of Blues, Casino or other venue and added it up - it would cost alot more than $160 to see them and this festival gives you the opportunity for good music combined with the sun and beach - it's a win-win situation.

This is not at the ampitheatre in Orange Beach.  This is ON THE BEACH in Gulf Shores.  The two main stages are actually in the sand

justmeg......what are you smoking.  Bayfest $35 3 day pass over 100 bands on 10 stages.  The Hangout fest is charging beach prices.  The music won't be any better than Bayfest and the viewing quite possibly worse.  Each to his/her own but $159 still seems a bit stiff. And I hope the drink prices aren't too high to boot.  Enjoy yourself though.
