Yes! Frampton!! Tour!!!

10:01 AM, Friday 3/5/10 5 |   |

Prog rock melodies and tasty guitar riffs are what’s in store for this summer as two great concert acts – Yes and Peter Frampton – hit the road starting in June.

The Yes lineup features bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Alan White, Oliver Wakeman (son of Rick) on keyboards and Benoit David – tapped to sit in for an ailing Jon Anderson in 2008 – continues to handle lead vocals.

Of course, Frampton hardly needs an introduction, from Humble Pie to Frampton’s Camel to a successful solo career, the guitar slinger has been playing for audiences since he was 10 years old. Frampton also served as a consultant for the movie “Almost Famous,” the somewhat fictionalized account of Cameron Crowe’s teenage days as a scribe for Rolling Stone.

Frampton also has a new album – Thank You Mr. Churchill – coming out April 16.

The tour begins June 16 in Uncasville, Conn., at the Mohegan Sun Casino and travels June 18 to Bethel, N.Y., for a gig at the Bethel Woods Center For The Arts before heading to Upper Darby, Penn., and the Tower Theatre June 19.

This would be one heck of a tour if Jon Anderson was doing the lead vocals. But he's not, so I'm staying home.

Big mistake not to see them Benoit sounds exactly like Jon and believe me that just the music is worth seeing them. He even looks like him ! The rest of the band was amazing...saw them last week and if your a fan with high expectations like I was...you will not be dissapointed !

I just saw Yes again at Seaworld in Orlando last week and was still impressed at their impeccable musicianship and Benoit is a very strong vocalist.

Yes playing with a stand-in for Jon Anderson just dosent cut it.  Maybe OK to LISTEN to, but David cannot come anywhere near to the charisma and stage presence that Jon Anderson has.  Further, although David does sing well, and does a good immitation of Anderson, clearly he cannot hit the notes as Anderson can, nor does he seem to "get" the Yes magic.  I love Yes, and I love Jon Anderson.  Chris, Steve & Alan are great musicians themselves and I love seeing them.  I just cannot see Yes with a "stand-in".
