Simon & Garfunkel Tour

04:31 PM, Monday 3/8/10 5 |   |

At first there was only one date. That is, until last week when a few more shows emerged – leading to today’s announcement that Simon & Garfunkel will tour North America during April and May.

Actually, it’s more like a tour of Canada with a few U.S. venues thrown in on the side. But even a run through the provinces is more than what was expected only a few short weeks ago.

Originally, Simon & Garfunkel were expected to appear on a U.S. concert stage only once during 2010. In January the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival announced the duo would headline the multi-day event April 24, saying it was the duo’s only U.S. appearance during the year.

But more dates began popping up. And even though the upcoming tour will play more Canadian than U.S. towns, there are a few stops in the good ol’ U.S.A.

Here’s what the schedule looks like. After appearing at Jazz & Heritage, Simon & Garfunkel head to Canada’s west coast to play Vancouver’s General Motors Place April 29. The next stop is Edmonton for a show at Rexall Place May 1, and then on to Calgary for a gig at Pengrowth Saddledome May 2.

Other Canadian stops are Saskatoon (May 4), Winnipeg (May 5), Toronto (May 12), Ottawa (May 14) and Montreal at the Bell Centre May 15.

So far, aside from Jazz & Heritage, there are only four U.S. shows on the schedule. Fargo, N.D., at the Fargodome May 7, Saint Paul at Xcel Energy Center May 8 and Madison, Wis., at the Kohl Center Arena May 9 were announced last week. The current schedule also lists Detroit for May 11, venue TBA.

I've loved & followed these guys since 1965.  Their "tour" is Canada & FOUR northern cities?  FARGO?? Gimme a break!  Very disappointing guys!  It'd be different if they toured every couple of years!  Sheesh

Anybody know what's happening with the Detroit date? Tickets have yet to go on sale? If they aren't playing there , I'll get tickets for Toronto, but would like some info if anyone has.

    thanks!

these guys stole the show at RnR HoF in October. Loudest and longest applause of both nights, hands down
