This year’s CMA Music Festival is all about giving as the annual event pledges 50 percent of its net proceeds to help those whose lives have been ravaged by this week’s Nashville flood.
Giving half its net to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee for flood relief turns this year’s CMA Fest – June 10-13 in Nashville – into a 100 percent charity operation since the annual event already has a tradition of donating 50 percent of what it takes in to help fund music programs at Nashville’s public schools. But then, country music folks are known for their big hearts and generous spirits, so giving the remaining half to flood relief shouldn’t come as a surprise.
“CMA has always been a great supporter of Music City through the Association’s Keep The Music Playing initiative,” Nashville Mayor Karl Dean said. “This added contribution to aid in flood recovery efforts will be incredibly helpful and demonstrates the great partnership that exists between the City of Nashville, CMA Music Festival and the Country Music Industry.”
There are still plenty of tickets for this year’s festival, including single night ducats to the concerts at LP Field featuring performances country’s biggest stars including Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Alan Jackson, Reba and Brad Paisley as well as four-day packages.
