Elton John Rocks Israel

08:01 AM, Friday 6/18/10 4 |   |

A concert by Elton John has given Israelis a boost after a string of cancellations by other world-famous artists.

The British rocker performed late Thursday in front of a screaming crowd of nearly 50,000 fans at a Tel Aviv stadium.

John, who wore blue-tinted sunglasses, told the audience those cancellations "ain't gonna stop me from playing here, baby."

Recent cancellations by the Pixies and Elvis Costello, who cited Israeli government policies, have added to Israel's growing sense of isolation.

John swiped at those artists, saying, "We do not cherry-pick our consciences," before hitting the opening chords of his 1972 hit "Crocodile Rock."

KUDOS to Elton John for rejecting Arab propaganda and playing a show in Israel.

John plays a great live show; I saw Big Red Piano at Caesar's. With that being said, Israel is a rogue state that behaves in a belligerent and despicable manner. Kudos to Costello and Pixies for cancelling their shows in that terrorist state.

I agree with Elton John!  Why punish the people?  Like Hall & Oates cancelling the Arizona show....some of the people that now don't get to see Hall & Oates are the people that are being hassled by the new law!  It's like kids getting punished cause the divorced parents can't get along.  I don't get it.  Plus, Elton John is not Rage Against the Machine, for God's (or Allah's) sake.
