Meat Loaf Postpones Canada

10:01 AM, Friday 7/30/10 1 |   |

Flu has forced Meat Loaf to drop his “Hang Cool” run through the Great White North.

You gotta figure it takes a big flu bug to take down the big guy. Meat Loaf nixed a couple of shows last week and eventually postponed his Canadian dates scheduled July 29-Aug. 8 in Edmonton, Dawson Creek, Calgary, Prince George, Abbotsford and Penticton.

A messages on Calgary’s Southern Jubilee Auditorium website says doctors, describing Meat Loaf as suffering from “flu like symptoms, prescribed two-weeks rest and that concert organizers are working to reschedule the dates. Meat Loaf’s next scheduled stop is Aug. 12 at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal City Walk in Universal City, Calif.

I suspect this had far more to do with poor ticket sales than "flu."  Meatloaf had the misfortune of playing the same night in Winnipeg as hometown boy Neil Young. Neil sold out 2 shows at the Centenial Concert Hall.

Ticketmaster were doing 2 for 1's giveaways trying to shore up Meatloaf's sales. He's a fine performer, but I think he's yet another victim of misfortunate scheduling, recession and a saturated summer concert market moreso than the flu bug.  Better luck next time big guy!
