The 411 On Arcade Fire’s Live-Streamed Concert

05:01 PM, Wednesday 8/4/10 Add |   |

Tomorrow night’s Arcade Fire show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden marks the premier of the online concert series “Unstaged.” We’ve got all the details you need to enjoy the performance from the comfort of your home.

“Unstaged: An Original Series from American Express” is a partnership with YouTube and VEVO, the music video and entertainment service site owned by Universal Musice Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Abu Dhabi Music Co.

The series will feature breakthrough artists playing landmark venues across the country along with some of today’s most influential filmmakers directing the live-streams.

Arcade Fire’s NYC gig is the first of five performances that will be live-streamed over the course of the year. The Canadian indie rock band’s live-stream will be directed by Terry Gilliam, whose resume includes actor and member of the Monty Python comedy troupe as well as director of flicks including 1981’s “Time Bandits,” 1995’s “12 Monkeys” and 1985’s “Brazil.”

The Arcade Fire show is going down tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 5 at 10 p.m. EST.  A special pre-show will begin at 9:30 p.m. EST., featuring behind-the-scenes exclusive access to the band captured by Gilliam.

Throughout the series “Unstaged” hopes to use digital and social media to connect the online audience to the live show. Fans can get involved by submitting questions to Arcade Fire through Twitter along with the hashtag #amexarcadefire for a chance to have the band answer their question during the pre-show.

Fans can also submit photos of their suburbs for a chance to have the photo featured on stage while the band plays a tune from its new album, The Suburbs.

During the live-stream the online audience will be able to switch between the main director’s stream and a second camera capturing alternative vantage points from backstage to the front row.

Future “Unstaged” live-stream concerts will feature performances from John Legend and The Roots. More artists will be announced later.
