Think $50, $100 or even $200 is way too much for an evening of entertainment? Try $5,000 for an evening of comedy.
But it’s just not any night of chuckles. Billed as a “Night Of Too Many Stars – An Overbooked Concert For Autism Education” and taking place Oct. 2 at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, the lineup includes Lewis Black, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais, Joel McHale, John Oliver, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman and Triumph The Insult Comic Dog plus “too many more to come.”
If you’re thinking there’s a Daily Show connection, you are correct. Hosted by Jon Stewart, the evening is being presented by Comedy Central and Stewart’s Busboy Productions.
As you can guess, this is a big charity event guaranteed to bring out the rich and/or famous. And, while the event has individual tickets ranging from $5,000 to $500, it’s selling a few lower priced seats ranging from $100 to $250.
However it was the upper end of the pricing scale that caught our eyes, especially when concert fans are already complaining about the ever-rising cost of tickets.
For example, packages of 10 tickets start at $25,000 and top off at $100,000. Yes, you read that right – a number 1 followed by five zeroes. But if you only can muster seven friends along with yourself, a package of eight tickets is available for $15,000.
