Guns N’ Roses Canned In Dublin

10:01 AM, Thursday 9/2/10 16 |   |

Guns N’ Roses was forced off stage at Dublin O2 Sept. 1 after furious fans pelted the band with cans and bottles for turning up more than an hour late.

The U.S. rockers, whose late start was greeted with a chorus of boos, were 20 minutes into their set when the missile barrage became too intense for them to continue.

“Here’s the deal: One more bottle and we go home,” fuming frontman Axl Rose warned the audience.

“It’s up to you. We would like to stay. We want to stay. We want to have some fun,” he said. “If you don’t want to have fun, all you’ve got to do is let us know. We’ve got no problem – we’ll go on our way.”

The group then left the stage for an hour, before returning to finish its set.

Earlier in the week Rose delivered an expletive-ridden tirade against the police and the organisers of England’s Reading Festival. He later wrote on Twitter that the act had been promised it could play beyond the curfew at Reading and Leeds Festival.

The band arrived late on stage at both Leeds and Reading, drawing criticism from other acts on the bill.

“In regard to Reading we feel at the very least the fans deserve an apology from those responsible for the nonsense. We’d also like to thank the fans for being so great, singing along n’ not tearing the place apart,” he said. "So u know, we allegedly had a deal in place pre-show with the city at Leeds to do a bit longer performance that was either miscommunication, someone wasn’t informed, changed their mind, didn’t care or was a con,” he added.

“Regardless the nonsense just seems so unnecessary but without real management or industry presence it is unfortunately beyond our control. We hope the fans feel they got at least what they could from us under the circumstances as for us all things considered that’s the main thing. The rest is filler.”

Looks like Axl Rose has learned nothing over the years and is still the same old a-hole.  Back when GNR were in their prime, they alienated their fans by continuously coming on 60, 90 even 120 minutes late.  Axl claims to be all about the fans but then forces them to sit around while he gathers his chi or something like that for his performance.  Axl, get a clue.  You are close to irrevlevant.  Your last album was a major flop after you kept fans waiting (see a pattern here?) for years.  The rock n' roll world no longer revolves around you and perhaps you should stop the diva bulls**t and actually show some consideration for your fans.  Stop blaming promoters and everyone but yourself for your failings.

Anyone who wastes their money on the axl rose show deserves this. This is a well known fact in the music community  but venues still book him for the $$$ because idiots still buy tickets. ...One of the most unprofessional musicians in the industry and what is the rest of his band gonna do , they are just his puppets waiting for their paycheck.

Who writes this garbage? "the missile barrage became too intense"  Nonsense.  There were a couple of bottle tossed on stage and Axhole through another one of the hissy fits he's so famous for an stormed off in a huff.  What a little girl he is. Maybe Tommy Hilfiger needs to beat his punk a$$ again.

The Irish "fans" or any "fan" don't deserve to be treated badly by any artist.    Especially Mr. Rose. What a high strung wanna be!  He cant face reality that people are only buying tickets to see his new group of  talented misfits just they could possibly see a spectacle, or temper tantrum or a know show or showing up late....he is a cry baby that thinks he still has it. The last album took how many year to "master" and it was very average. I burned it and have listened to it once.  Not worth the time.  His band is talented on their own, but why they still play with that ass is beyond me. Axle needs to take his $, buy and Island, find himself a "Wilson" to hang with and just go away and disappear from all society.      He is breathing up fresh air that someone out their needs. He isn't worth anything!

It's common knowledge that when Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band perform they ALWAYS start stupid late. Like clock work, for a 7:30 ticket time, they go on at 8:20.  Same with Paul McCartney. Always start 50 minutes late. However, those are "An Evening With" type shows with no supporting acts. However 50 minutes is not cool.

I've seen Springsteen multiple times and he comes on late but it's because he doesn't want to come out to a half empty room and he never has support acts.  I've seen McCartney too, he didn't really come out late.  I've never seen Guns N Roses in the past since I wasn't crazy about seeing a GNR tribute band with Axl Rose singing.  Back in the day I do know they came out late, rather late I should say so GNR fans should know what they are getting into and not to expect an on time arrival of the band.  I do agree with the fact that Axl needs to do something to regain the trust of his fans if he wants to continue with the GNR machine.

@ trainarollin:its understandable for good, reliable acts to go on a little late. i am by no means a big bruce fan, but he does his fan base right by playing 2 1/2 plus hours. axl is nothing but a primma donna ***, and it shows.

You want GNR ... go see Slash. Myles Kennedy is a better singer than Axl these days and Slash at least respects the show.

If you pay for GNR it is your own fault!  Axl is a loser who made a ton of money and is now going to lose it all. At least Slash and whatever band he has, shows up on time, plays their ass off, and give the auidence their money's worth. GNR not so much....

Axl give it up and put us out of our misery.....
