Jermaine’s Vegas Gig

11:01 AM, Wednesday 9/8/10 2 |   |

Jermaine Jackson says the set list for his upcoming Las Vegas concert includes Jackson 5 hits as well as a tribute to departed sibling Michael.

Jackson performs Oct. 2 at Planet Hollywood’s Theatre of Performing Arts. Although his name is at the top of the bill, he’ll have plenty of support in the form of six dancers, three backing vocalists and an 11-piece band. Plus, he won’t be the only Jackson in the house, but will be joined by three of his children – Jeremy on guitar and Autumn and Jermaine Jr. on vocals.

Organizers of the event are trumpeting the night’s set list, saying Jackson will be dipping into his brother’s legacy as well as the Jackson 5 songbook with numbers such as “”Beat It,” “A-B-C,” “Man In The Mirror” and “I’ll Be There.” Conducted by musical director Rex Salas, the band “will be wrapped in a multimedia presentation to include cherished Jackson family photos and videos.”

In other words, there will be plenty of show biz sizzle Oct. 2. For more information, click here for Jermaine Jackson’s website.

I'm not a huge Jermaine fan, but if I were in Vegas, I would catch the show out of sheer curiosity.  It reads that his set will include some J5 tunes which I always welcome, however I would be a little upset if he goes overboard with the Michael Jackson songs.  Of course there is nothing wrong with him paying tribute to his brother, he should.... but I always had the feeling Jermaine wished he was Michael and I would hate to see him try and jump into MJ''s character onstage.  There would be nothing sadder to see than that.  Even though  I consider myself a real die hard J5 and MJ fan,  I'm hoping  that Jermaine will step into his own and offer  his audience some new and original material, not just a trip down memory lane Vegas type "review".  If he can't bring it, he should let us fans have the great memories we had from the days when there was a real group.  Like I said, I would go..cause I am curious to see what the next generation of Jacksons

bring.  Best of luck to them all.

I'd love to attend this concert and I'm very excited that he's touring again.  I am a long time Jermaine Jackson fan.  I've always thought the Jermaine/MJ comparisons were silly.  Jermaine has been an established solo artist since the early 70's, mainly in R&B with an impressive catalog and hits of his own.  They share musical roots being founding members of the legendary J5 as well as brothers, but they each carved out their own niche.  Much love and positivity to the Jackson Family!  I'm so happy the legacy continues.
