Clapton, Winwood Announce London Gigs

10:01 AM, Monday 10/4/10 Add |   |

Apparently six nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall are not enough for Eric Clapton as Slowhand adds a couple more dates, this time featuring his Blind Faith cohort Steve Winwood.

Clapton had already slotted six May shows at the Royal Albert – 17-18, 20-21 & 23-24. The newly announced dates with Winwood are May 26-27.

Formed in 1968, Blind Faith was one of the first bands to be labeled a “supergroup.” Along with Clapton and Winwood, the band’s lineup included Cream drummer Ginger Baker and bassist Ric Grech. The band’s only studio album is the self-titled 1969 effort that included a cover of Buddy Holly’s “Well All Right” and the now-classic rock tune, “Can’t Find My Way Home,” written by Winwood. Other tracks included Clapton’s “Presence Of The Lord” and the Winwood-penned “Sea Of Joy.”

Clapton and Winwood toured together in 2009 and jammed together this year at Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Illinois. Winwood toured with Santana during summer 2010.

Tickets went on sale Oct. 4. For more information, click here for Eric Clapton’s website and here for Steve Winwood’s digital abode.
