Australian comic Jim Jefferies' irreverent, equal-opportunity ribbing is grabbing a lot of attention and packing venues wherever he goes.

Appearances at clubs and festivals including Edinburgh Fringe, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Glastonbury Festival and Montreal Comedy Festival (Just for Laughs) earned, and continue to bring in, fans on a regular basis.

His Jim Jefferies: Hell Bound: Live at The Comedy Store London and a limited-edition release of Contraband in 2008 and his HBO special, Jim Jefferies: I Swear To God, in 2009 added to the buzz from his live shows.

The comic is selling out North American venues and moving up to play arenas in the rest of the world.

United Talent Agency's Nick Nuciforo, co-agent with Joanna Scott, told Pollstar he saw that talent first-hand after hearing about Jefferies at the Montreal Comedy Festival.

“I was really attracted by the fact that Jim can tackle controversial topics in a very smartly written way. He makes you laugh and think at the same time,” he said.

Scott said, “His brilliance and irreverence took my breath away. I knew 10 minutes into his one-man show that I had to represent him. That was 10 years ago.”

Brillstein Entertainment Partners’ Alex Murray said he and co-manager Tim Sarkes concur.

“Jim simply has a very strong point of view that is not only very accessible, but also strikes a chord with his audience.  His audience has grown into a real community with a strong bond with what he has to say,” Murray told Pollstar.

Nuciforo and co-reps are also impressed by Jefferies’ work ethic.

“I was ultimately blown away by how quickly he can write and turn over a new hour of strong material. Many comedians have one great hour special a decade. Jim continues to churn them out!”

And churning out work is right. In addition to touring, the performer's seventh stand-up special in eight years, Freedumb, will be released on Netflix July 1.

Jefferies has dates through the end of October and Nuciforo says fall/winter plans are being finalized.
