Macy Gray, Brazilian Girls, Underworld, Paul Oakenfold, DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, Burning Spear, and Sly & Robbie and the Taxi Gang are among the artists scheduled for this year's edition of the KCRW World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
The series kicks off June 24 with Brazilian percussionist Carlinhos Brown - who headlined the first World Festival in 1999 - Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars and DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, who will perform "Brain Placement: 7 Inches of Fury," a tag-team DJ show that continues where the pair's album Brainfreeze left off.
The July 15 show features performances by rock en español faves Café Tacuba and U.K. trip-hop duo Groove Armada.
July 29 will be Spirit of Armenia night, with sets by Djivan Gasparyan, Adiss, Andy, Silva Hakobyan, Sako, Hovhannes Shahbazyan, Element Band, Vatche Mangerian and a number of other Armenian acts.
Reggae Night is August 12, with appearances by Burning Spear, Sly & Robbie and the Taxi Gang with Horace Andy and Cherine Anderson, and a reunion of reggae icons Wailing Souls.
Stepping onto the Hollywood Bowl stage August 26 will be Macy Gray, Belgian World music ensemble Zap Mama and Brazilian Girls.
Finishing out the season September 9 are British electronica pioneers Underworld, über-DJ Paul Oakenfold and Carmen Rizzo.
