The Closing Bell

05:01 PM Wednesday 7/30/08 |   |

We wrap up the day with new dates for Cobra Starship, Hoots & Hellmouth, James Blunt and Stevie Wonder, and links to items about gunmen robbing Philly's Mann Center, The Black Crowes suing Gretchen Wilson, Huey Lewis recording movie theme, New York jeweler suing Wyclef Jean, NPR streaming Newport festivals and former boy-band impresario turning jailhouse snitch. All that and more is waiting for you in your last update of the day!

Overnight Sensation …

After testing the following two items scheduled to post within the next 16 hours on several laboratory rats, we noticed that each rat's sex life improved dramatically after reading both stories. Now, we're not saying that will happen to you if you read the items. But do you really want to take a chance by skipping over them?

Dates, Dates & More Dates …

A ton of new dates for Cobra Starship landed on our loading dock this afternoon, showing the band playing every city, town and village in America. Well, most of that is true. We did get more dates than we were expecting. So much, in fact, that we had to send out for extra bytes in order to list them all. Stops include Buffalo, New York on October 7, New York on October 11, Las Vegas on October 31, Houston on November 9 and Montreal on November 26.

James Blunt adds a dose of Canadian dates to his November / December plans. Shows include November 27 in Toronto at Air Canada Centre, November 29 in Ottawa at Scotiabank Place, December 2 in Halifax at Halifax Metro Centre and December 3 in Saint John at Harbour Station.

Stevie Wonder updates today with a couple of extra Australian shows - October 20 in Melbourne and October 23 in Sydney.

And we close out the day with a few new ones from Hoots & Hellmouth - September 24 in Pittsburgh, October 2 in Wilmington, North Carolina, October 3 in Norfolk, Virginia and October 12 in Portland, Tennessee.

During the day we also updated the schedules for Cheech & Chong, Panic At The Disco / Dashboard Confessional, Metallica, Jason Mraz, Superchick, Charlatans UK, Keller Williams, Tom Russell, Hal Ketchum, Iron & Wine, GZA/Genius, Ben Folds, Tilly and the Wall, White Lion, Alicia Keys, Teddy Thompson, Saw Doctors, Lindsey Buckingham, plus thousands and thousands of bands and artists we would mention in this space if only they had taken our hint about a tip jar seriously.

And that wraps up our Wednesday excursion in the concert data jungle. Thanks for riding with us today and we hope you can join us tomorrow for another adventure in tour dates. Happy trails!
