Newport Folk Festival Adds Trey

The Newport Folk Festival is set for the Fort Adams State Park in Newport, R.I., August 1-3 and, as always, will give festival-goers something new alongside something familiar. As a matter of fact, in the case of Trey Anastasio, they'll get both.

Anastasio's first-ever visit to the Newport fest will feature his first-ever full solo acoustic show. The gig also marks his first full performance since his drug arrest 17 months ago.

Meanwhile, Richie Havens returns to Newport for the first time in 17 years.

Anastasio and Havens add to an already solid lineup that features Jimmy Buffett and The Black Crowes.

Other acts signed on include 11-piece alt-country band Red Rooster, Son Volt, Jim James from My Morning Jacket, Jakob Dylan, Cat Power, Levon Helm and Cowboy Junkies and many more.

The Newport Folk Festival has been around for 49 years and has hosted acts as diverse as Joan Baez, Pixies and Bright Eyes.
