Re-Experience Hendrix

12:55 PM Thursday 8/30/07 |   |

The second Experience Hendrix Tour, featuring Buddy Guy, Robert Randolph, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and a host of other rock and blues musicians, will travel to five cities in October to celebrate the legacy and music of Jimi Hendrix.

The tour launches October 16 at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Other stops on the itinerary include the Beacon Theater in New York City (October 17), the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in New Hampshire (October 18), the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J. (October 19), and the Palace Theater in Waterbury, Conn.

Tickets for some shows are available through Ticketmaster.

Special guests for the tour include Robbie Krieger, Mick Taylor and Hubert Sumlin, as well as drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox, who were the rhythm section that played behind Hendrix at Woodstock.

Rounding out the bill are the late Stevie Ray Vaughn's rhythm section Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon, Native American band Indigenous, and Eric Gales.

Various combinations of these artists will perform signature Hendrix songs like "Purple Haze," "Hey Joe," and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)."

The tour is being presented by Experience Hendrix, the production company formed in 1995 by the late musician's family.

The 2004 outing in San Francisco, Portland and Seattle featured Guy, Shepherd, Sumlin, Mitchell and Cox, along with Carlos Santana, Joe Satriani and Paul Rodgers.
