05:00 AM Saturday 9/16/06 |   |

Texas-based rock group Sparta will return to the road this fall with a theatre tour of North America.

Fellow Lone Star State outfit Sound Team, which recently released its debut album on Capitol, will open at most shows.

The trek starts September 28 at Glass House in Pomona, Calif., heads around the country and wraps back on the West Coast at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz. The itinerary includes an appearance by Sparta at KEDJ Edgefest September 30.

Sparta last toured in late 2004 with Further Seems Forever and Copeland opening. The group also traveled the arena circuit that summer opening for Incubus.

The band's first performance of 2006 was a Lollapalooza appearance last month in Chicago. The third Sparta album, Threes, is due for an October 24 release.
