Just kidding about the icebergs. The cruise won't be anywhere near the North Atlantic, with the Italian cruise ship MSC Lirica launching from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., January 7 for six days and nights in the balmy Caribbean.
The Jam Cruise has become a wildly popular annual event, and this time out organizers are raising the bar further with stops in Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Grand Cayman Islands; and Cozumel, Mexico.
Besides terrific port stops, the ship features luxury accommodations that beat the heck out of any festival campground. The MSC Lirica first sailed two years ago and features ocean views, fine dining, multiple swimming pools and whirlpools, gym and sauna - fit for the most discriminating jam band fan.
The snazzy accouterments are one thing, but the Jam Cruise is all about the music.
Other artists filling the 6-day itinerary include Gomez, Digable Planets, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Galactic, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Steve Kimock Band and at least four String Cheese Incident side projects.
Pre-bookings have already closed and, if more proof is necessary that the Jam Cruise is a Big Deal, only 100 cabins remain up for grabs when the onsale goes up May 25 at 11 a.m. Mountain Time. Rates range from $799 to $1,749 plus gratuities and tax. Discounts are available for early payment in full.
