Take Action

12:50 AM Wednesday 9/3/03 | |

The Take Action Tour is all about raising awareness and funds for the National Hopeline Network 1-800-SUICIDE, and what better way to do that than ask a bunch of top artists to sign on?

Poison The Well, Dillinger Escape Plan, Further Seems Forever, Avenged Sevenfold, Shadows Fall, Eighteen Visions, Shai Hulud, This Day Forward, Since By Man, Throwdown, Himsa, and These Arms Are Snakes are teaming up for the fourth installment of the Take Action Tour, which launches September 11.

The itinerary finds many of the bands sharing the stage together for chunks at a time. However, not all groups are on all dates, which run through October 12, so study the schedule closely to see what day your favorite group is playing.

There's also a CD to go with the cause. Take Action! Volume 3 features many of the same artists on the tour. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the National Hopeline Network.

The Network provides free national access to suicide crisis counseling. An estimated 5,000 young Americans die each year by suicide. Former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher states, "Suicide claims the lives of more teenagers and young adults than all the natural forms of death in young people today."

Tickets and more information about the National Hopeline Network are available at takeactiontour.com. At roughly $18 a ticket, the show's a bargain.
