The Closing Bell

05:25 PM Tuesday 12/2/08 |   |

Well, it’s about that time. Time to turn off the lights, lock the doors and meet up with our fellow group therapy members. But before we do we’d like to leave you with new dates for Black Label Society, David Byrne and Lily Allen, and links to items about Boy George, classical music downloads, Chinese Democracy’s fine print and the early ‘60s garage band credited with inventing .. everything!

Overnight Sensation …

The following items scheduled to post sometime during the next 18 hours will bring truth and enlightenment to those who read them.

Coast To Coast Kinky Dates – The Latin rockers step out for a 15 city tour early next year in support of Barracuda.

The Long And Winding Red Carpet – In celebration of another run of U.S. dates for Duran Duran we turn back the hands of time to suddenly last summer when Simon LeBon graced our pages with an exclusive interview.

Link-O-Rama ...

Boy George will not give evidence in trial where the pop star is accused of imprisoning a male escort – Reuters

Looking for classical music downloads? Boston Symphony has ‘em. Heck, they recorded them – The Boston Globe

Reading the credits on Chinese Democracy can be as much fun as listening to the CD – Broward New Times

Have you heard The Monks? No, not a religious order, but a band from the early ‘60s credited with inventing industrial, punk and techo. We thought that previous sentence might get your attention - The Free Press of the University of Southern Maine

Dates, Dates & More Dates …

We received a hefty update from Black Label Society, listing the band that Zakk Wylde built playing the New Oasis in Sparks, Nevada, on March 7. March 10 has the band in Chico, California, for a gig at the Senator Theatre. March 28 is Chicago at the Congress Theater; April 1 is Pittsburgh at Zoo Entertainment Complex and May 1 is Vegas at House Of Blues.

David Byrne updates with Australian dates. New ones include Sydney on February 1 & 2 at the Opera House; Perth on February 4 at Perth Zoo; Brisbane on February 7 at Brisbane Riverstage and Melbourne on February 9 & 10 at Hamer Hall. Mr. Byrne also adds a couple of New Zealand dates (well, he is in the neighborhood) – Wellington on February 13 at Michael Fowler Centre, and Auckland on February 14 at Aotea Centre – ASB.

And we have new Lily Allen dates for the United Kingdom, including Glasgow on March 14 at Carling Academy Glasgow; Birmingham on March 23 at Carling Academy Birmingham and London on March 26 at Shepherds Bush Empire.

During the day we also updated the schedules for Lyrics Born, Lucinda Williams, Mastodon, McFly, Kool Keith, Dr. Doom, Jason Isbell, Kinky, Mr. Lif, Pink, Seth Walker, Simply Red, Britney Spears, The Pretenders, plus thousands and thousands of bands and artists, all of which we’d love to mention if only we had the stamina to type all of their names.

That wraps up our Tuesday journey. Thank you for letting us occupy a bit of space on your desktop and we hope we can be of service tomorrow.  G'night!
