Toronto Edges Closer To Edgefest

01:51 PM Monday 2/23/09 |   |

The annual Toronto festival, slotted for June 20 at Downsview Park is starting to make some noise by announcing headliner Billy Talent for the main stage.

Edgefest started out 20 years ago as a one-time only event celebrating the 10th anniversary of Toronto radio station “102.1 The Edge.” After two decades of combining the best live acts with understated Toronto cool, Edgefest has turned into one of summer’s hipper festival events and in the past has played host to Radiohead, Green Day, Stone Temple Pilots, Blur, Linkin Park and many other bands and artists known for delivering challenging performances.

Along with Talent in the headlining slot, main stage billing also includes AFI, Alexisonfire, Metric, K-OS, The Stills and The Arkells, while the second stage lists Beast, Clothes Make The Man, Dean Lickyer, Dinosaur Bones, Flash Lightnin’, La Casa Muerte, The Midway State, Moneen, Still Life Still and The Waking Eyes.

There are several different ways to buy tickets for Edgefest depending on just how badly you want to be the first on your block to boast you’re going to this year’s extravaganza.

The first opportunity to score tickets is with 102.1 The Edge’s “Inside Edge” presale, scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 10 am (Eastern Standard Time) and running through Friday, February 27 at midnight.

The public onsale takes place Saturday, Feb. 28 at 10:00 (also EST).

There’s also an Early Bird special. For a limited time festivalgoers can pay $39.50 for a special “Fast Pass” available to the first 2,500 ticket buyers. According to festival organizers, Fast Pass holders will receive the “royal treatment” and have their very own entrance gate.
