Stars Line Up To Celebrate Pete Seeger’s 90th B-Day

09:01 AM Wednesday 3/18/09 |   |

They’re calling it “The Clearwater Concert: Creating the Next Generation of Environmental Leaders,” but it’s the birthday party of the year.

We’re talking big names honoring legendary American folk artist Pete Seeger. Joining in the celebration will be Joan Baez, Ben Harper, Ani DiFranco, Dave Matthews, Michael Franti, Emmylou Harris, Juanes, John Mellencamp, Tao Rodriguez-Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, Taj Mahal, Eddie Vedder and Keller Williams.

Also on the list is Bruce Cockburn, Dar Williams, Bela Fleck, Arlo Guthrie, Richie Havens, Silvio Rodriguez, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Guy Davis, plus many, many more.

The date for the Live Nation-promoted event is May 3, the venue is New York City’s Madison Square Garden and the concert is intended to create awareness and raise funds for Hudson River Sloop Clearwater – an organization founded by Seeger to preserve and protect the Hudson River.

You want tickets? Here’s how to grab ‘em.

American Express cardholders get first crack with a presale scheduled for Monday, March 23 at 9:00 am (Eastern Daylight Time). Public on-sale is one week later, March 30, also at 9:00 am. American Express (do they have debit cards, I hope) , Live Nation, Ticketmaster, and some secondary site will get a shot before people who usually mind their own business.
