The Crystal Method Readies For ‘Divided By Night’ Tour

03:01 PM Wednesday 3/25/09 |   |

Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland, AKA The Crystal Method, are about to embark on their first live tour in five years in support of their fourth studio album, "Divided By Night."

Of course, that doesn’t mean the duo has been inactive during the past few years. Jordan and Kirland have done several Crystal Method DJ appearances, such as their recent gig at SXSW, but the upcoming tour is the first official tour as a live act in half a decade.

The tour debuts April 17 at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.

Dates include May 6 in Boston at House of Blues; May 8 in Toronto at Guvernment; May 9 in NYC at Webster Hall; May 12 in Baltimore at Ram’s Head; May 20 in Dallas at House of Blues; May 30 in Seattle at WaMu Theatre and June 14 in Salt Lake City at Murray Theatre.

Other stops include Philadelphia (May 10), Cleveland (May 11), Orlando (May 15), Houston (May 18), San Diego (May 26), Calgary (June 3), St. Louis (June 9) and Aspen (June 12).

Look for Danger and LA Riots supporting on selected dates.

The pair also unveiled the artwork for the Divided By Night cover, created by two-time Grammy Award-winner Neal Ashby of Ashby Design, and featuring a giant globe made up of audio speaker heads hovering in mid-air “divided by night.”

Speaking of the album’s title and the artwork, Crystal Method’s Jordan said:

“On a recent plane trip to a DJ gig, we caught an amazing sight. The sun was setting in the west. There were spectacular rich colors on the horizon, but on the ground below, it was night. We both were moved by this incredible contrast.”

That’s when Kirkland takes over.

Divided By Night immediately popped into my head, not so much as an album title but as a metaphor for our lives. As I enjoyed this beautiful view from my cramped seat, I thought of my family in California and reflected on just how different these two worlds are.”
