Billy Bob Thornton Apologizes To Canada

10:01 AM Friday 4/10/09 |   |

After getting trashed in the press for coming off like a complete jerk during an interview on Canadian radio, Billy Bob Thornton has finally shown his nicer side.

Appearing on the CBC radio program “Q” earlier this week, Thornton avoided some questions while giving nonsensical answers to others.

For example, when asked when his band, the Boxmasters, got together, Thornton replied, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

When the program’s host, Jian Ghomeshi, inquired as to what kind of music Thornton listened to while growing up, the actor answered by talking about Famous Monsters Of Movieland magazine.

However, what might have really irked Canadians is what Thornton said about audiences in the Great White North.

“Canadian audiences seem to be very reserved. We tend to play places where people throw things at each other. Here, they just sort of sit there. And it doesn’t matter what you say to ‘em… It’s mashed potatoes but no gravy.”

Aside from the radio audience that actually listened to the broadcast, a clip of the interview appeared on YouTube, virally sending Thornton’s charm and poise around the world.

Now the actor has apologized for the surly manner in which he conducted himself on radio.

“I love Canada, absolutely,” said Thornton, according to Canwest News Service, providing what is probably the nicest answer he’s given anyone all week.

One of the biggest losers I think I have ever seen. His interview was outrageous and his bandmates are wimps. If he were in my band and conducted himself like that in an interview I would have slapped him all over the room. He is an arrogant wimp.

he shouldnt have to apologize for his opinion....but an apology for his lack of musical talent would be nice.

I lived in Toronto for a number of years, and attended many, many concerts there over a 15 year period.  Billy Bob is pretty accurate with his crowd description.  The fans there are pretty lame for the most part.  I'm tired of people having to apologize for speaking their opinion.

why does the media always pretend that these actor and actresses have  musical talent ?  No one cares about whatever band Billy Bob Thornton or any of these hollywood wannabees are in.

Billy Bob doesn't deserve a musical audience in the first place, whether it be an solo interview or a crowded venue. That said, there's nothing quite like mixing in a little drug use to go along with marginal talent. Nice work jackass.
