You’ve got to hand it to David Letterman, he’s no dummy. With the countdown to Jay Leno’s final episode of “The Tonight Show” underway, Dave’s taking the week off.

And who can blame him? The roster for Leno’s last week is loaded, with Dwight Yoakam, Wanda Sykes, Sarah McLachlan, Billy Crystal, Prince and James Taylor scheduled to settle into the guest chairs.

And since this is supposed to be an event to rival the departures of Leno’s predecessors Jack Parr and Johnny Carson, expect lots of surprises.
