If you’re like most Americans (heck, make that most citizens of the planet Earth), you probably find that you often have trouble making heads or tails of the speeches politicians make. Well it turns out William Shatner can help.

Shatner, who is famous for his 1968 album The Transformed Man and not so famous for his excellent 2004 album Has Been (check it out!), dropped by “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” last night to offer his interpretation of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s virtually incoherent resignation speech. (O’Brien quipped “He just hangs out backstage.”)

Accompanied by an upright bass and bongos, the Emmy-winning actor and talk-show host turned the now-ex-Gov.’s rambling message into pure poetry. I smell a new album coming: Shatner Sings The Pols!

See for yourself.
