The Other Kind Of Song-Sharing

01:01 PM Tuesday 9/8/09 |   |

Korean Internet users have taken some of the shine off the solo debut album by G-Dragon, which has topped the K-pop charts since mid-August. The leader of the popular boy band Big Bang has been accused of plagiarism, specifically stealing from songs of Western artists.

The accusations have been so strong that several publishing companies have said they will investigate.

The title track of the album, “Heartbreaker,” is said to have a striking resemblance to Flo Rida’s “Right Round.” Also, the song “Butterfly” seems to rip off Oasis’ “She’s Electric.”

The rights to “Right Round” in Korea are controlled by four companies: Warner Chappell Music Korea, Sony ATV Publishing Korea, Fuji Pacific Music Korea and EMI Music Publishing Korea.

Both Warner Chappell and Sony ATV said they have noticed the similarities and will check with the composers of “Right Round.” However, EMI Music said it saw no similarity.

G-Dragon’s management company, YG Entertainment, has not officially commented.

I don't think the person who asserts that he/she is not in Korea and protects G-Dragon is a real-foreigner. All of the people in all country will say, "It's plagiarism. clearly."

If you're a real foreigner, listen Oasis' and Flo Rida's music instead of Copy-Dragon's music. They're the same ones.

FloRida's Right round.. um... audible similarly. ( My thought. )

Positively plagiarism is not but the 'beat'

which is similar and the 'flow' too.

lol.. It made an atmosphere like that,

so how South Koreans think this?

Anyhow is not the plagiarism definitely.

Just misunderstanding comes to feel mysteriously.

Attractive hiphop I'll get this my pod on.

Come in London GD <3 UK needed.

Um, well this matter sorta died down a while ago... GD didn't plagiarize.

Thanks for bringing all this crap up again, whoever wrote this thing. Phillip Brasor.

Musical plagiarism is when you use the close imitation of the music and does not refer the original composer...

All he had to do was "sampled from ..." or ask permission to use it...

Plus from experience Lot of the music that is out there in esp Korea do not give props to the actual composer and writers... it is because it's about image... if the image of GD is this "genius hip hop artist" he better write his own music...which is not really true... may have helped on the feel but

they've got commercials and tv shows to shoot not actually take time to make music...

and people who think this doesn't matter you better get your head out of the sand because Korean music industry is growing so fast and reaching so much more people than US is doing alone...

this is not first so if Korean music industry wants to be taken seriously please come up with ORIGINAL IDEAS...

Today's gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you

By now you should've somehow realized what you got to do

I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now

Backbeat, the word is on the street that the fire in the heart is out

I'm sure you've heard it all before but you never really had a doubt

I don't believe tha anybody feels the way I do about you now

And all the road we have to walk are winding

And all the lights that light the way are blinding

There are many things that I would like to say to you but I don't know how

Because maybe you'll gonna be the one that saves me

And after all, you're my wonderwall.

I RESPECT OASIS AND I AM TOTALLY AGAINST G-DRAGON.
