Well it’s all over. And as I predicted a couple of months ago, the chicken catcher from Kentucky walked away with the prize.

Last night was the finale of this season of “America’s Got Talent” and to the surprise of many, country crooner Kevin Skinner beat out opera-singing housewife Barbara Padilla, a trio of Texas tenors, sibling singing group Voices of Glory and Stomp-meets-Blue-Man-Group quartet Recycled Percussion for the $1 million prize.

And once again, the soft-spoken Skinner was reduced to tears.

“I’ve always loved to perform,” he said. “I want to go out there, and give ‘em the best show I can.”

The singer will be the headliner when the live “America’s Got Talent” show, hosted by Jerry Springer, premieres at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in October.

In case you missed the show last night, you'll get a chance to hear Skinner tonight when he drops by "The Tonight Show."

Last night also marked the U.S. television debut of internet sensation Susan Boyle, who practically stole the show with her version of The Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses.”
