The Winter Of Van Morrison’s Exhaustion

There is no joy in Texas today. Citing “severe exhaustion,” Van Morrison has canceled three shows scheduled for the upcoming weekend.

The nixed shows are Jan. 23 in Austin at Bass Concert Hall, Jan. 24 in Fort Worth at Bass Performance Hall and Jan. 25 in Dallas at Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. News of the cancellations broke over the weekend with ticket holders being told they could obtain refunds at points of purchase and the concerts will not be rescheduled.

It was a different kind of news encounter for Van Morrison during the days between Christmas and New Year’s when reports surfaced claiming the singer was a new daddy welcoming the birth of his son George Ivan Morrison.

But the news of the proud parent turned out to be bogus – attributed to the work of a gagster that hacked into Morrison’s Web site.
