Santana Taps Winwood For Tour

11:01 AM Monday 4/12/10 | |

Santana embarks on a summer journey beginning at the end of June in Minnesota. As if that wasn’t enough to entice you, Steve Winwood appears as special guest.

The first thing we did today when we saw the new dates for Santana was to check the list of cities for a town west of the Mississippi. While promoting the band’s Las Vegas residency – “Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through The Hits” – at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel / Casino, AEG Live billed the multi-night engagement as the only place fans could see the band west of the Mississippi in 2010.

As it turns out all but two dates are east of the mighty river. The “Carlos Santana Universal Tone Tour begins in Saint Paul at the Xcel Energy Center June 30, plays Milwaukee’s Summerfest July 1 then moves WEST of the Mississippi for the Saturday In The Park Festival in Sioux City, Iowa, July 3 and Kansas City at the Starlight Theatre July 4.

The tour heads back east of the Mississippi, playing Cincinnati at Riverbend Music Center July 6; the Indianapolis area at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre July 7; Tinley, Park, Ill., at Midwest Bank Amphitheatre July 9 and Clarkston, Mich., north of Detroit at DTE Energy Music Theatre July 10.

Other stops include Toronto at Molson Amphitheatre July 11; Montreal at Bell Centre July 15; Uncasville, Conn., at Mohegan Sun July 21; Camden at Susquehanna Bank Center July 24; Atlanta at Chastain Park Amphitheatre July 29 and Tampa at Ford Amphitheatre July 31. Last show is in West Palm Beach at the Cruzan Amphitheatre Aug. 1.

Additional dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
