If you’re looking for a guide to the sights and sounds of New Orleans, you could do a lot worse than jazz funksters and NOLA natives Galactic.

To get fans ready for their appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Galactic’s crew are offering a 40-minute guided tour “off the beaten path.”

The podcast, which is available for download abso-freakin’-lutely free, provides a guide to experiencing an insider’s perspective of the city, including tips on the best – and occasionally hidden – eateries and clubs. Also featured are hot spots for late night dining, all night dancing, as well as places to catch the coolest native brass bands and how to find a demonstration of the regional “rump shaking” phenom known as “bounce” music.

And if you’re mouth isn’t already watering, Galactic also throws in a few performances of some of their favorite New Orleans tunes.
