Go-Go’s Say Farewell

05:01 PM Friday 5/7/10 |   |

After 30 years of band life the Go-Go’s are calling it quits with “Happily Ever After – The Farewell Tour” beginning July 7 at Lilith Fair in Southern California and wrapping up July 27 in Texas.

A popular Los Angeles band at the beginning of the 1980s, the Go-Go’s broke nationally in 1981 with their debut single, “Our Lips Our Sealed,” launching a journey establishing the group as the quintessential all-girl band of the decade. Other hits followed, including “We Got The Beat,” “Vacation” and “Head Over Heels.”

Now Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock and Kathy Valentine are ready to bring the Go-Go’s legacy to a close with a string of dates in July.

The first two gigs are “Lilith” appearances – July 7 in Chula Vista, Calif., at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre and July 8 in Phoenix at Cricket Wireless Pavilion. Next is Tampa at Tropicana Field July 10, followed by Myrtle Beach, S.C., at House Of Blues July 11 and Portsmouth, Va., at Ntelos Wireless Pavilion July 14. Other stops include Atlantic City (July 17), New York ((July 20), San Francisco (July 22), Los Angeles (July 24) and Dallas (July 26) before achieving closure in Austin at the Paramount Theatre July 27.

The band will also appear on ABC’s “Good Morning America” July 16. For more information on the Go-Go’s farewell tour, click here for the band’s website and here for the group's Twitter page.

Would like to see Jane do some solo projects now that she's free.

Wondered when this was finally going to happen. It can't have been easy to tour together with Belinda living outside the States. Thanks for the great memories ladies!
