Apocalyptica U.S. Summer Dates

10:01 AM Monday 5/10/10 |   |

Apocalyptica is bringing its symphonic metal back to the U.S. this summer in celebration of the release of the band’s upcoming seventh album, "7th Symphony."

The quartet, which is based out of Helsinki, Finland, was formed in 1993. The band’s current lineup features three classically trained cellists along with a drummer. Apocalyptica’s debut album, 1996’s Plays Metallica By Four Cellos, features eight instrumental covers including “Enter Sandman,” “Master of Puppets” and “Welcome Home (Sanitarium).”

7th Symphony, the follow-up to 2007’s Worlds Collide, is set for release Aug. 24. Worlds Collide featured guest starts including Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Lacuna Coil’s Cristina Scabbai, Rammstein vocalist Till Lindemann and Three Days Grace singer Adam Gontier. The new album includes eight instrumentals in addition to four tracks with guest vocals, including the first single “End Of Me,” with lead vocals by Gavin Rossdale.

The U.S. tour begins May 21 with a performance at WBUZ Hootenanny at Nashville Municipal Auditorium along with Three Days Grace, HaleStorm and November. The tour wraps up July 17 at Town Ballroom in Buffalo, N.Y.

Additional stops include Headliners Music Hall in Louisville, Ky. (May 22), Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Ind. (May 29), Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio (May 23), Chippewa Valley Festival Grounds in Cadott, Wis. (July 15) and Eagle Theatre in Pontiac, Mich. (July 16).

I think it's front page because of the way the website updates. It has the same flow as a blog with time and all that. Newest stories are at the top.

This is weak. Why announce this on the front page when it's obvious that that haven't announced the entire tour yet?  Ten North American Dates over the course of nearly two months? C'mon. There's obviously a lot more to come. If not, this is the lamest tour schedule of all time.

No wait, the SECOND lamest tour of all time.  This year's Ozzfest takes the Number One slot.
