Limp Bizkit Cancels North America Summer Tour

09:01 AM Thursday 5/20/10 | |

Saying Limp Bizkit “is not an amphitheatre band,” Fred Durst sent out a series of tweets saying the summer tour is canceled in favor of a fall arena outing.

The Summer Sanitarium Tour hits Atlanta's Turner Field where fans enjoy some Limp Bizkit with Fred Durst.

As Durst alerted the world, Ticketmaster was already listing several dates as canceled. The “Gold Cobra” tour was scheduled to begin July 3 in Holmdel, N.J. at PNC Bank Arts Center.

“Moving US headlining tour dates from amphitheatres to arenas for a better limp experience,” Durst tweeted. “The reason coming soon on.”

According to Durst’s tweets during the past 24 hours, only headlining shows in the U.S. and Canada are affected. Festivals, including radio events are still a go as are the band’s Euro dates.

Lame excuse. Guess they never heard of a general admission pit. Outdoor amplhitheatres can accommadate those.  Who really wants to go inside and mosh anyhow ... whole point of moshing is to be outdoors.  Probably had poor ticket sales

Meet and Greet Prostitution Screws Limp Bizkit.  Maybe the reason Limp Bizkit couldn't sell tickets is because fans were sickened that Limp Bizkit allowed Live Nation to become their pimp and sell out their fans with VIP packages that included for pay meet and greets.  Meet and Greet Prostitution in the music industry has been around for awhile. Other bands like Journey, Def Leppard and Aerosmith paved the way with selling their flesh and their fans out with meet and greet packages. Live Nation has increasingly convinced more artists to sell themselves. Currently, Lilith Fair, Sharika, the Moody Blues, Rihanna and Yes are some of the bands that are engaged in this unsavory practice. It's hard to understand why fans, in this case John's, who are paying big dollars for these one minute quickies with the artist don't realize that they are just a John to the artist and that they quickly wash their hands of you soon after the meet and greet.  Come on fans out there, speak up and voice your displeasure with the high ticket prices, the VIP packages that take all of the good seats away from average income and sane fans and this disgusting Meet and Greet Prostitution practice!

We need to also remember who owns all those outdoor ampitheaters... Lienation and ticketbastard.  Irving Azoff, probably told them, they had to sell experiences for outrageous prices.  Who knows for certain, give Fred a break. Fred may realize that his fans won't pay those rip off prices for a stupid laminate.  Hey if Fred likes a pit ga, more power to him, give him credit for thinking about his fans.

You can always go on a Fall Andy Gump tour!  Enough room in 'THE GUMP' for your fans and hey, you will have a place to sit between the main set and encore.
