Halifax Still Rocks, Just Not Opening Night

03:01 PM Thursday 7/1/10 | |

You can scratch one night from the two-night July event called Halifax Rocks. The promoter has nixed opening night, but evening No. 2 is still a go.

This year’s Halifax Rocks, taking place in the Halifax Common in, you guessed it, Halifax, Nova Scotia, was to kick off July 23 with headliners Kid Rock and Counting Crows. That is, until last night when the promoter announced he was dropping night No. 1.

In an e-mail announcing the change, Halifax Rocks promoter Harold MacKay did not give a reason for dropping the first night, according to the CBC.

While Kid Rock and Counting Crows will definitely not appear in Halifax, two other groups scheduled for July 23 – The Jimmy Swift Band and The Stanfields – will perform July 24 on a bill that already features headliners The Black Eyed Peas and Weezer along with Hot Hot Heat, Rich Aucoin and Chad Hatcher.

According to the Halifax Rocks website, folks holding July 23 tickets will be able to use the ducats on July 24. Otherwise they need to contact the Ticket Atlantic Box Office at the Halifax Metro Centre either by phone at 902-451-1221 or online at www.ticketatlantic.com. VIP ticket holders must make an actual exchange to get an assigned seat for July 24.
